Description

The woodcarved golden eagle is a piece of art realized by the woodcarving company Demetz Patrick in Val Gardena. The figure is carved in maple wood and is manufactured to the smallest detail, even in the colored version. The plumage is very finely carved and painted; the eyes, the beak, the paws with the strong claws, all elements of the wood carved bird of prey are proof of the high quality, long woodcarving tradition.

The stone eagle is a large bird of prey which feeds mostly with medium sized mammals. The female of the golden eagle can reach a body length of up to 100 cm, while the smaller male can reach up to 90 cm. The wingspan of the female reaches up to 230 cm, the male 210 cm. Today, the stone eagle is predominantly found in semi open landscapes, which offer sufficient food supply. Its habitat goes from western Canada and western USA to the mountainous regions of Europe like the Alps, to the forests of the Baltics, from the deserts in North Africa to the Asian plateaus.
