Sebastian was born in Narbonne in France and he grew up in Milan. Sebastian was a renown soldier of the Emperor Diocletian. Though, as soon as Diocletian find out about the fact that Sebastian was a Christian, he condemn him to death. Sebastian was tied to a tree trunk and shot to dead with arrows. Irene, the widow of Castulus, find him and helped him until he was health again. After his recovery, Sebastian protested against the cruelty which Diocletian applied against Christians. The emperor was shocked because he thought Sebastian was dead. However, he then let Sebastian clubbing in Circus of Rome. His body was thrown in the Cloaca Maxima. His body was finally buried in the Via Appia; the Basilica of San Sebastiano lies on the same spot.
