Description

The woodcarved ibex group represents two ibexes in their ambience. They move on the rocks, in a herd. The wooden figure of the ibex group is an art craft of the wood carving company Demetz Patrick in S. Cristina in Val Gardena. The wooden statue is carved in maple wood and is available in the sizes 40 cm and 50 cm as well as in the colored version.

There are many types of ibexes around the world, living in zones like Ethiopia, Syria, Caucasus and Siberia. In Europe, there are mainly two types of ibexes: Iberian ones (living in the Pyrenees) and the Alpine ibexes.
"Our" ibex usually reaches a length of 150 cm, a shoulder height of 90 cm and becomes more than 100 kg. The animal has a goat's beard and imposing, curved horns up to 1 m long.
Alpine ibex normally live on the forest boundary, but also move up to 3500 m. In winter, however, they remain in deeper layers in order to find food.
